How we go about making composite elements

Hand Lay-Up

Production process for small series. A gel coat is applied to the mould, then strengthened with successive layers of resin-coated fibre until the desired thickness is obtained.

Applications: prototypes, small production runs, complex or structured elements.

Simulta-neous projection moulding

In this process, fibreglass and resin are projected onto the mould. The mixture is then compacted by hand to remove bubbles.
Applications: small and medium production runs, medium to large parts.

Resin-Transfer Moulding (RTM)

A closed-mould process beginning with a dry-fibre preform, placed into a metal mould. The mould is closed resulting in the compaction of the preform to the fibre volume. A liquid thermo-setting resin is then injected into the mould.

Applications: small and medium volumes for technical, double-sided parts. The process offers good control over components and mechanical characteristics. Better management of the environment.

Pouring

Manual process that consists of pouring resin between a mould and a closed counter mould to obtain pieces with two smooth faces.

Applications: complex decorative pieces, washbasins and shower trays.

Infusion

Resin infusion is a hybrid process in which a dry preform is placed in a mould on a layer of high-viscosity resin film. Under applied heat, vacuum and pressure, the resin is drawn into the preform, resulting in uniform resin distribution. 

Applications: Large, repeatable parts, high-quality mechanics.

Paint shop

Dip/spray paint booth for applying liquid lacquer paint to composite parts. High-pressure vertical ventilation and heating.

Applications: Gloss, satin, matte, structured and metallic
